Who we are

We have observed that victims often feel overwhelmed by the daunting task of replacing everything they lost. Our aim was to provide peace of mind and support by being a resource for answers to the questions they may have difficulty solving on their own. We wanted victims to feel welcomed and assured that we could guide them in meeting all their needs.

We received both physical and monetary donations, which we sorted, stored, and redistributed to local grassroots community-based outreach organizations. Our goal was to share resources rather than hoard them, so we constantly communicated with various organizations to understand their needs and how we could assist.

Formosa Fire Relief provided ongoing support for victims, extending beyond immediate relief efforts. Currently, the people of Los Angeles have come forward to help in any way they can. Our vision is to ensure that all donations go to good use, not let anything unnecessary end up in landfills, and repurpose textiles with community-building workshops to build a sustainable nonprofit business model to continue the ongoing efforts.

  • Tess Sullivan

    EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Originally from Alaska, Tess has been in LA for a decade now (woah, time flies) and can't imagine anywhere else (besides Alaska) that she'd rather call home.

Further feeling at home in the FFR's new residence inside a former soundstage- Assisting the nonprofit operations has allowed her to put her production experience and know-how to work on a day-to-day basis.

She's loved seeing how the fruits of FFR's labor have created such a positive impact on the community and wants to give you the sincerest thanks for your ongoing support of FFR's mission. It's only thanks to you that these efforts can continue!

  • Bianca Nasca

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Bianca is a very busy person; A psychology grad student at Mount Saint Mary’s University, about to begin her clinicals as a psychology intern in the fall, a mom to an adorable little guy, foster mom, animal rescuer, devoted wife, costumer, costume designer, beauty school dropout, and intimacy/relationship coach. As a proud LA native (West Hollywood and WLA), she’s also long-since held the very unofficial title of tour guide to her out-of-town friends and family.

Anyone who knows Bianca knows that she has always been intensely proud of her city.

When the LA fires broke out, she was already heartbroken from her grandmother’s passing just days before. In addition to watching her beloved city burn to the ground, she also saw an overwhelming amount of waste being created as an unintended side effect of the immediate relief efforts, that she also recognized wouldn’t be able to offer their services past the first month.

Partnering with contacts at her son's school (LILA), she was able to work with a generous staff of volunteers to start Formosa Fire Relief with the vision to offer free, thoughtful and ethical individualized care and resources to victims of the fires, not just now, but for the long haul.

Their business also extends to nonprofits and healthcare organizations, helping them create meaningful merchandise that represents their missions.

For DJ, giving back to the community isn't just a passion—it's a personal commitment. Their work, both in healthcare and through their business, reflects their dedication to making a difference in people's lives.

  • Chy Davin

Chy has been instrumental in helping us in a multitude of ways from checking fire victims in, helping to maintain our databases, troubleshooting, sorting, organizing, helping us keep our place looking and running great!

  • Tahlia Sloan

Tahlia came to us as a volunteer and we loved her so much we created a paid job for her. Tahlia has been worth her weight in gold around FFR as the first person fire victims see to check in, go over paperwork, and the check-out process. Tahlia is now part of the FFR family that we’ve created and we are so excited to have someone so dedicated to helping her community from the kindness of her big beautiful heart!

  • Leah

Leah came to us as a volunteer and has also become an integral part of the FFR family. We love Leah because she is kind, hardworking, positive, compassionate, and dedicated to helping her community. Leah has been tasked with helping to repurpose textiles, warehouse maintenance, loading, unloading and organizing our giant stock! We wouldnt have been able to do half of what we set out to do without the help of Leah (and Shamish!)

  • Muriel

Muriel came to us as a volunteer and stayed with us for the long haul. Muriel brings an incredible positivity and creativity to FFR everyday! Muriel has been in charge of our ever-expanding adult clothing and shoes sections. Hanging, sorting, organizing and making sure everything looks perfect has been Muriel’s mission. We are so greateful to have added Muriel to the FFR family because we would be lost without her. Muriel’s passion for life is what keeps us all motivated!
